30 Day Game Challenge: Day 04 – Your favorite soundtrack to a game

Right, we’re going back a generation now. Right the way back to actually one the single best games I have ever played… ever! And this is for Day 04 – Your favorite soundtrack to a game.

This soundtrack is present even when it cannot be heard. The music, which plays during the epic battles with the Colossi, is made more powerful by the virtual silence players experience while traveling across the barren landscape. After such a long time in a virtual sensory deprivation tank, the appearance of each behemoth is made even more epic as the orchestra swells. And yet, somehow, we are more alone than ever. And for the sheer emotive power of the music in this game I show infinite respect to composer Ko Otani and the Shadow of the Colossus original soundtrack.

So unpack that PS2 and get down to your nearest game trade centre and pick up a copy of this astounding piece of work

About Archer

I'm a gamer and a reader, purely, simply nothing but (well except for work i suppose but i digress). This will be my page for pedantry and whimsy on games that I am playing, have played, and have grown bored of... get over it... it happens and the books I have read. As such my reviews will be my opinions and feelings on the entertainment factor, replayability, build quality and felling of the games I play, and the structure and readability of the books I've read. And i can't stress enough that these are my opinions and not necessarily that of gamers/readers at large. Enjoy my words. I hope they inspire others to review and critique games, films, books... whatever. Happy gaming one and all Archer out!

  1. The No More Heroes Series of games has an amazing soundtrack, very catchy and lively. Epic and dark, funny and sad. The Bit tRip games for Wiiware and House of the Dead Overkill also has great soundtracks.

  2. i still prefer the soundtrack to this game
